Hi..

I am newbie when it comes ubuntu and i have installed 9.4. I am trying to connect to the internet but i am just not able to connect. Any help would be great.

Lenovo 3000/intel/
Bsnl adsl modem connected to the linksys wireless router

Windows connects well with the router and gives me no problem and i am able to use the internet. When using, ubuntu 9.4, it connects to the router successfully but i am not able to use the internet. Please help. I am trying all ways possible to get this working.

Hey buddy which model in the Lenovo 3000 series are you using, is it a laptop/desktop. And buddy the version is Ubuntu 9.04 and not 9.4. Maybe it has some security key like WEP or WPA-PSK. Have you set any of these?
And buddy are you using a modem and a router, both different. Myself using BSNL broadband via BSNL ADSL modem(which is an UTSTARCOM router).... Let me tell you i'm not any expert, but hopefully i can help you. I'm too using Lenovo, a Y410 laptop. :-)

By telling that Ubuntu 9.04 succesfully connects to the router do you mean that the status notification of your Network Manager, shows succesfully connected? Or is it anything else? try running the
sudo iwconfig command, does it show the same ESSID name as your router, maybe 'Linksys', or something?

Hi all,

Thanks for the reply.

I am using Lenovo 3000 g400 (laptop), ubuntu 9.04 desktop edition and bsnl broadband with bsnl (ut300ru) modem connected to linksys wireless router. When i use ubuntu, it connects to the wireless router successfully and when i start with firefox to browse...nothing happens....

But yesterday i connected ubuntu through my neighbour's wireless connection...and i am pretty sure he dint know it...I was able to browse the internet without ny problem. I couldn figure out the problem when it comes to my wireless router.. Any help?

Status notification on network manager says...connected successfully...i haven't tried connecting with ethernet cable....

Try Restarting the modem/router while the pc is on it shud work
