Hello Sadicote
no, I do not think. Sudo / su says the system, you're Admin.
However, a user could announce himself it by press from a key combination.
Said among myself, I find not bad to get used to this kind.
Greeting Sully

Hello Sully,
My mistake, you are already in root when you are in console from grub, so sudo is not necessary, right? I am not quite sure yet.

hallo Sadicote
the mistake often does not lie with the graphics map separate by the monitor which is too high the opposed resolution. Also the repeat rate of the monitor could be put wrong.
It always feels well to know which kind of monitor is used. for example, Compaq Simens or, otherwise, one.
Regards
Sully

his can help? :-)
STRG-ALT-F2 with it on a console, network is assumed, then then apt-get updates apt-get dist-upgrade, afterwards reboot and the same procedure over again by means of STRG-ALT-F2 on the console there then of course I place sudo su ahead apt-get instal
ubuntu desktop explain, this allow to go through and with init 6 or reboot-n restart and itself please desktop again is there

Hi, I agree with Sully, horses for courses, for eg. I have heard that Intrepid doesn't work too well with ATI graphics cards...but i suspect the problem lies with your graphics card drivers, you could try entering the terminal from boot options and typing "sudo apt-get remove compiz". Mind you, this is only a 'trial and error' method. The exact solution depends entirely on your system hardware and it's compatibility with Ubuntu.
Regards,
Sadicote

Hello
I would suggest knowing first of all more about the system, before I can say 9.04 on it runs.
The LTS and dapper versions are supplied with longer updates.
the other versions not.
It was also written he has made minimum installation.
I do not estimate this ubuntu 9.04 at it will function.
Greeting sully

this seems to me to be graphics maps problem.
Which graphics map do you use?
Ubuntu 8.10 is no version LTS. 6.06 Dapper is a LTS version and manages with a minimum configuration well.
Would you say me like your system looks?
Ram + CPU

i installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my desktop. all the installation went smoothly. i reached the login screen after rebooting.after i enter my username and password the login screen disappears and the cream colored background remains. it doesn't proceed from here. as i result i ve not been able to use 8.10 heck i ve not even seen how 8.10 desktop looks like.

My system meets all minimum requirements with more memory and disk space than recommended.
however the 6.06 version of Ubuntu works well on my system.
