I wrote to them that I want to now Extend mt relationship with Ubutntu by becoming Training Partner for India. This is what reply I received:

Dear Pravin,

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Ubuntu training partner. Unfortunately we are not currently looking for India based training partners at this stage. We will of course be in touch should this situation change.

it is more completed to install new software in ubuntu as compare to xp.
Because it is easy to find xp software like by manufacturer, friends, sites etc. on the other hand someone can't get from these sources in the case of ubuntu.
So ubuntu includes thousands of useful software in its synaptic package manager for ease to install via internet.
you can also install new software from application>Add/Remove Application. Then in the left side of search box tab
switch it to all available application.
Repositories is nothing but collection of these softwares which can be easily install over internet connection
you can see source list in file -------------------> /etc/apt/sources.list

you can also install ubuntu software by just double clicking if it is in formate of .deb [i]

I am a beginner of linux and I want to learn linux.
I had removed windows xp and started with installing ubuntu.

I had installed ubuntu just two days back. And I am a little bit confused. In windows xp , if we want to install any new softwares, we just download from internet and double click the .exe file , and the installation is done easily. But in ubuntu , I read in the forums the we have to go to the synaptic package manager and click apply. I also read in the forums for installation of new softwares , the repositories have to be loaded. What are these repositories ? Why should we use the repositories and the synaptic package manager for installing new softwares like VLC player , etc...

Why the installation of new softwares in ubuntu is little confusing and difficult when compared with windows xp.

Please give me some clear explaination.

Thank you

may be its not detecting the graphics driver....this kind of problem occurs when you have a cd that is burnt in higher speed, so some files get missing. if that is not the problem try reinstalling it.

Hello everyone,

I had installed Ubuntu 8.04(inside Windows) 2 days ago.

Though i can enter my username & password, i can't go further since
the screen freezes at the beige coloured screen. After that the keyboard
also stops working.

I tried using Ctrl+Alt+F1 before typing my username to enter into the
terminal screen but couldn't see any errors. I am able to use it like
a normal terminal(creating folders, etc.) But not the GUI.

Someone please help me with this problem.
